Since our inception in 2017, EdgeMicro has been committed to meeting the edge colocation needs of customers at our network of micro data centers across the country. Our growing list of locations in tier II and tier III cities and our Edge Anywhere solution, which offers edge services where our customers need it, demonstrates our dedication to meeting as many needs at the edge as possible. But without the most committed and qualified people behind the scenes, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
A company is only as good as the people behind it, and at EdgeMicro, we have some of the most talented staff dedicated to delivering edge solutions to customers across the U.S. One of those individuals, who recently joined EdgeMicro as vice president of operations, is Jason Scandrol.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities at EdgeMicro?
I manage site selection, supply chain, installation and all operations for the EdgeMicro micro data center portfolio.
What do you enjoy most about working for EdgeMicro so far?
I enjoy the collaboration and the willingness of the team to help out where and when they can. We have a great group of experienced professionals and everyone does their part to make sure our customers have the best possible experience at the edge.
As I continue to help serve customers at EdgeMicro, I look forward to putting out first-in-class modular data centers that meet our clients’ timing and needs, and that are also more sustainable. Creating a data center that has less carbon output and uses recycled materials for the fabrication of the facility and supporting infrastructure is becoming increasingly important and it’s something the whole team is really excited about.
Do you have someone in the industry that you look up to?
Absolutely, but there are too many to mention here. Generally speaking, I truly look up to the electrical and mechanical engineers in the data center industry. Over the years, these key people have used innovation to advance the design and economic viability of data center infrastructure, which has made them more reliable and maintainable. It’s been impressive to watch and I enjoy being a part of this groundbreaking work.
What do you love most about the telecom industry?
As we’ve mentioned, one of the best aspects of the telecom industry is the constant evolution and innovation that takes place. It’s fascinating! It’s great to be part of the overarching goal of bringing the world’s populace closer together.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Indiana Jones or a UFO hunter! Who doesn’t love the adventures of Indiana Jones?! And I’m a bit of a nerd, so UFO hunting seemed like a viable profession.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy cooking and experimenting with recipes that I’ve seen on popular cooking shows. I’m also into outdoor activities, like snowboarding, golfing and hiking. For my indoor activities, I like playing chess. I also enjoy reading science fiction, horror and fantasy novels and then watching the movie or TV show (or vice versa). I like these genres because it’s interesting to view the authors’ or directors’ visions of alternate realities from our own.
